Warm Homes For All

Each winter leaves thousands of families cold and hungry, living in damp and mouldy homes which are expensive to heat and harmful to health. This simply isn't good enough.

The Conservatives' failure to invest in insulating homes and in renewable energy has let people down. And now the Labour Government has cut to winter fuel payments, delayed new Decent Homes standards and are yet to publish their Warm Homes Plan.

UK housing stock is the oldest in Europe and among the least energy efficient. The number of vulnerable people who are living in poorly insulated homes and struggling to choose between heating and eating is growing. It is time to act.

Liberal Democrats are calling on the government to urgently deliver on an emergency home insulation plan and support households with warmer homes. We have committed to making homes warmer and cheaper to heat with a ten-year emergency upgrade programme, starting with free insulation and heat pumps for those on low incomes and ensuring that all new homes are zero-carbon.
