What's the role?

Regional parties organise regular conferences in their area once or twice per year. Regional conferences are a chance to debate policy, deliver training to activists, hear from senior politicians and meet other Liberal Democrats from your area. The Regional Conference Officer is the person who organises these events and manages them on the day.

This role would suit somebody with a good aptitude for events, strong people skills, who knows how to manage a budget and who enjoys working under a little pressure.

Key tasks

The time required for this role varies throughout the year. It is typically a nominal amount most of the time, but will take up 10-15 hours per week in the weeks running up to and immediately after conference.

  • Organising and delivering 1-2 conferences per year
  • Chairing the regional conference committee or team. This may include collaborating with a regional policy committee or team.
  • Organising a regional presence at the Federal Conferences, of which there are also two per year.

Skills & Attributes

  • Event organising skills and experience.
  • Ability to liaise professionally with venue staff.
  • Understanding of minimum venue access needs.
  • Able to work collaboratively with volunteer teams.
  • Able to make leadership decisions, depending on requirements.
  • Competent with managing finances and keeping records of spending
