Work reforms: Scrap the NI rise for small businesses and cut down NHS waiting lists

26 Nov 2024

EMBARGO: IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Responding to the government’s White Paper on reforms aimed at addressing economic inactivity, Liberal Democrat Work and Pensions spokesperson Steve Darling MP said:

“Let’s be clear how we got into this mess, the previous Conservative government wrecked apprenticeships, left mental health services not fit for purpose and ran our NHS into the ground leaving millions on waiting lists unable to work.

“We will of course scrutinise the government’s proposals closely but getting people off waiting lists and scrapping the National Insurance rise on small businesses should be the first step.”
