Wage figures cold comfort for families struggling to keep their heads above water

Responding to the latest figures on wages from the Office for National Statistics, Liberal Democrat Cabinet Office Spokesperson Christine Jardine MP, said:
"These figures will be of cold comfort for families struggling to keep their heads above water.
"Spiralling mortgage bills are wiping out any progress on pay rises, yet the Chancellor continues to sit on his hands.
"To add salt into the wounds, he has chosen to give multi-billion pound tax cuts to the big banks whilst the mortgage bills destroy household finances. How on earth can Jeremy Hunt justify these tax cuts for big banks who short change savers whilst raking in record profits?
"This out of touch Government has its priorities all wrong."
