Policing: 6,000 crimes going unsolved every day under the Conservatives
EMBARGO: 22:00 Sunday 9 June
Responding to the Conservative Party's announcement on policing, Liberal Democrats Home Affairs Spokesperson Alistair Carmichael said:
"The Conservatives have already failed to protect our communities from crime. From slashing community officer numbers into oblivion, to funnelling millions into pet projects instead of bobbies on the beat, Conservative ministers have got their priorities all wrong for years.
"6,000 crimes are still going unsolved every day, including 3 in 4 of all burglaries and car thefts. Clearly, the Conservative Party's previous uplift pledge has not delivered the community policing that British people deserve. What makes these half-baked plans any different?"
