Nuffield Trust and King’s Fund report: “awful but predictable” findings need to act as a “wake up call” for the Government

2 Apr 2025

EMBARGO: 00.01 Wednesday 2nd April

Responding to a Nuffield Trust and King’s Fund report that found that just one in five people are satisfied with the NHS, that rating having fallen by 39 percentage points since the pandemic, Liberal Democrat Health and Social Care spokesperson Helen Morgan MP said:

“These findings are awful but entirely predictable. It should come as no shock that patients are at their wits end with a health service that has left people being treated in hospital corridors, or pulling out their own teeth through lack of a dentist.

“The fault lies squarely with the Conservative Party whose shameful neglect brought us to this point. But it is the Labour government who have chosen dither and delay over the reform desperately needed to fix this mess.

“This needs to be a wake-up call for Ministers who have kicked new hospitals into the long grass and are refusing to address the crisis in social care for another three years. This trend will only worsen unless the Government wakes up and actually starts to grip the issues. The Liberal Democrats will fight everyday to ensure this happens.”
