NHS winter stats: government must make sure this is the last winter crisis patients have to go through

Responding to the publication of the first NHS winter stats report leading to warnings of a ‘quad-demic’ with a 350% increase in flu cases in hospital compared to the same week last year, Liberal Democrat Health and Social Care spokesperson Helen Morgan MP said:

“These figures will be extremely worrying for millions of patients who look set to endure yet another winter crisis in our health service.

“The new government cannot repeat the same mistakes that the Conservative Party made after they ran our NHS into the ground.

“Ministers need to urgently set forward plans to winterproof the NHS, as we have been calling for for months now, and make sure this is the last winter crisis patients and the health service ever experience.”
