Lib Dems submit motion to dock Health Secretary’s pay

The Liberal Democrats are to submit a censure motion in Parliament to remove the Ministerial salary of the Secretary of State for Health amid chaos in the country’s health services.
With Britain on the brink of mass-walkouts in the NHS, and as emergency waiting times skyrocket to dangerous levels as well as the treatment waiting list topping a staggering seven million people, the Liberal Democrats no longer believe the Secretary of State for Health is worthy of his Ministerial top-up salary.
Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Daisy Cooper said:
"I don't think the Health Secretary deserves his Ministerial salary because nothing in the health department is working. The public, nurses and paramedics have lost all faith in him.
"The chaos just never ends with this Conservative Government. If Ministers can't govern the country, keep ambulance services running and staff our hospitals, then they shouldn't be paid a Ministerial salary. It’s as simple as that.
"For months on end, our hospitals and GP services have been at breaking point whilst Health Ministers such as Steve Barclay sat on their hands. This gross incompetence and downright arrogance proves they are not worthy of a Ministerial salary.
"The clock is ticking to save our NHS from strike chaos. Until the Health Secretary bucks up his ideas, he shouldn't be receiving a Minister’s salary.”

“That this House censures the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care for his handling of the National Health Service (NHS); which has seen waiting times rise in ambulances services and A&E, the waiting list for treatment reach more than 7 million people, and nurses and paramedics voting for a strike in the winter months; and believes the Government should remove the Secretary of State's additional Ministerial salary, as a result of this gross mismanagement of the Health Department."
