Labour local election launch: Government has failed to deliver the change they promised

3 Apr 2025

EMBARGO: 00.01 Thursday 3rd April

Commenting ahead of Labour’s local election launch, Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper MP said:

“Labour promised change from the disastrous Conservatives, but so far they have failed to deliver.

“From millions unable to get a GP appointment, to no end in sight to the cost of living crisis and water companies riding roughshod over our local environments, it is no wonder that so many are already disillusioned with this government. They have got it wrong on issues including winter fuel payment cuts, the family farm tax and the job-destroying National Insurance tax hike.

“Right across the country people are disappointed with Labour and still haven’t forgiven the Conservatives. People are turning to the Liberal Democrats to be their local champions because they know we work hard for our communities. Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to elect a strong local champion, who will fight for a fair deal."
