King’s Fund report: “heart-wrenching” that the Government does not recognise the crisis in social care

3 Mar 2025

EMBARGO: 00.01 Monday 3rd March

Responding to a King’s Fund report which states that the increased costs for staffing in care has led to a fall in the number of people receiving publicly funded long-term care, Liberal Democrat Health and Social Care spokesperson Helen Morgan MP said:

“It is heart-wrenching to think that so many people in desperate need of care are simply not receiving it.

“The Conservative Party’s shameful neglect brought us to this point, but it is the Labour government who are prolonging the misery, taking three years to complete their social care review and hammering care providers again with their misguided jobs tax.

“The time for delay is over. It is now time for action. That means completing the social care review within a year and Rachel Reeves scrapping her foolish jobs tax for care providers."
