GDP: Burnham must get a grip on our economy
EMBARGO: Immediate Release
Responding to the latest quarterly GDP figures, which showed a slight growth of 0.4%, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Daisy Cooper MP said:
“Today’s figures are little to celebrate as millions of businesses and workers continue to feel the squeeze. With costs continuing to rise and the continued uncertainty caused by Trump’s idiotic War in Iran, Britain needs a plan to get our economy growing.
“Whilst Labour ministers might pat themselves on the back over this morning’s figures, they will mean little to ordinary people struggling to pay the bills. The Government should urgently be looking at Lib Dem plans to slash energy bills through an Essential Energy Guarantee, along with cutting fuel duty by 12p a litre.
“After Labour’s two anti-growth budgets, Burnham needs to urgently get a grip on the economy and get Britain growing again, supercharging economic growth through a new trade deal with the EU, including joining the Single Market."
