Gambling Levy: We must go further

Responding to the introduction of a statutory levy on gambling, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Culture, Media and Sport Max Wilkinson MP said:

"Problem gambling destroys far too many lives each year. It’s long past time that the gambling companies that profit from that misery pay their share.

"We called in our manifesto for the statutory levy to be implemented, and this move from the Government is welcome.

"But we must go further. That’s why we’re calling for the remote gaming duty to be doubled -  to combat the harms of problem gambling while raising vital money for our NHS and social care."
