EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Commenting on reports Mark Fullbrook will now be employed directly by the government instead of through a private company, Liberal Democrat Chief Whip Wendy Chamberlain MP said:

“This U-turn raises more questions than it does answers, including about Liz Truss' judgement.

"Why did Number 10 spend days trying to defend this appointment only to backtrack when it came under scrutiny?

“Downing Street must now confirm Mark Fullbrook will go through all the usual civil service checks including on potential conflicts of interest.

“They should also publish his outside interests including major shareholdings, outside income and any gifts or hospitality received since his appointment. The public deserves to know who is sat around the top table in Downing Street.”
