Fraud strategy a "drop in the ocean" in fight against vile scammers

Responding to the government's new Fraud Strategy, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson Alistair Carmichael MP said:
"These empty promises are too little, too late for the thousands of vulnerable people being ripped off by vile scammers.
“With only one new investigator for every 9,000 cases last year, the Fraud Squad is just a drop in the ocean compared to what’s needed to protect fraud victims. These plans will also put even more of a burden on local police forces who are already overstretched.
“Unfortunately, this long-overdue Fraud Strategy was simply not worth the wait."
