Family farm tax: government needs to take fingers out of its ears and listen to farmers

Responding to the Urgent Question on the Budget’s impact on farming communities and the government’s response, Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson Tim Farron MP said:

“The government just does not get it. The livelihoods of family farmers are hanging by a thread whilst the government ploughs ahead with this disastrous policy.

“This tax hike comes as hammer blow for farmers in this country who were failed by the Conservative party and rightly hoped for better.

“The Chancellor and Prime Minister need to take their fingers out of their ears, sit down with the NFU, listen to their concerns and scrap this disastrous family farm tax."
