EMBARGO: Immediate Release

Ed Davey and the Bath Philharmonia Young Carers’ Choir bid for a Christmas Number one has received a big boost as their Christmas single ‘Love is Enough’ has hit the top 40 just one week after being released.

Ed Davey has overtaken Billie Eilish and Miley Cyrus as ‘Love is Enough’ rockets up from 87th to 28th in the singles download chart and enters the sales top 40 at 37th.

The song is a celebration of young carers and the bond they share with the loved ones they look after, and it was written by six young carers and former young carers. All money raised from downloads and streams of the charity single are going to Carers Trust and Bath Philharmonia.

Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said:

“It’s such a joy to see so many people listening to this beautiful song by the amazing young carers at Bath Philharmonia.

“I’ve been blown away by the people getting in touch, including other young carers who say that the song speaks to them in a very personal way.

“Too often, the tough job young carers do looking after their loved ones is overlooked and the impact this has on them is ignored. This Christmas is a chance to shine a spotlight on the incredible work of young carers across our country, but also the big challenges they face.”

Notes to Editor

The single is available to download from iTunes and other platforms here, with all proceeds going to Carers Trust and Bath Philharmonia:https://slinky.to/LoveIsEnough

The idea of a Christmas release was Ed Davey’s - inspired by his own time as a chorister when he was also a young carer as a teenager. Recently he was sent a recording of him singing a solo at a Christmas carol service with his choir in 1978 as a 13-year-old and after hearing ‘Love is Enough’ and the work of the amazing young carers with Bath Philharmonia, he asked if they would like to work together to release a single at Christmas for the Carers Trust and Bath Philharmonia.
