Davey says changes to SEND system must include universal screening

Responding to the Government's SEND announcement, Ed Davey, Liberal Democrat Leader, said:

"Like so many families, we know all too well what a disaster zone the current SEND system is.

"Parents and carers shouldn’t be forced to navigate a postcode lottery, wait for months on end, and even battle their way through the courts, just to try and get their children the support they deserve.

"To truly succeed these plans must include much better early intervention, including universal screening for SEND, so that each child has the best chance to succeed."
