9 Sep 2025

EMBARGO: 00.01 Tuesday 9th September

Ahead of 999 Day, Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said:

“Our first responders keep us safe and save countless lives every day, all whilst putting themselves in harms way. We owe them an enormous debt of gratitude and we use this day to thank them for their fantastic service.

“Now is not just the time for words. We need to see the Government step up and improve the working conditions for first responders and ensure they have enough staff so that they are not overstretched.”
