Conservative tax mission: Sunak shamelessly hiked taxes on hardworking people in a cost of living crisis
EMBARGO: 22:30 Tuesday 18th June
Responding to Rishi Sunak claiming that cutting taxes is his "moral mission", after years of hiking taxes on families and pensioners, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperon Sarah Olney said:
"It is deeply embarrassing when Rishi Sunak fails at his own so-called "moral mission", after years of hiking taxes on families and pensioners.
"Rishi Sunak and Conservative MPs shamelessly hiked taxes on hardworking people in a cost of living crisis, all whilst giving the biggest banks a disgraceful tax cut.
"Rishi Sunak has proven to be out of touch and must now be out of office after years of failure. You simply cannot trust the Conservatives on tax."

Conservatives launch moral “moral mission” to cut taxes
Today the Conservatives are launching their Plan to Cut Taxes – a clear plan to cut taxes for people at every stage of life.
It comes as Labour continue to refuse to rule out which taxes they will raise to fill the £38.5 billion hole in their finances, and the party faces fresh questions about their £2,094 of tax rises on every family.
