Clacton by-election: Chancellor’s decision is disappointing but not surprising from "business as usual” Govt

Responding to Rachel Reeves confirming the Clacton by-election will go ahead, Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said:

"The Chancellor had the chance to put this by-election on hold for a few weeks so the people of Clacton could have the full facts about the Farage funding scandal.

“It is extremely disappointing but exactly what we expect from this “business as usual” Government.”

Notes to Editor:

Ed Davey wrote to Rachel Reeves this morning - urging her to refuse to let Nigel Farage resign as an MP while the investigation by the Parliament Standard's Commissioner is still ongoing.
