Carney visit: Starmer should take a “maple leaf” out of his book and form economic coalition of the willing

Ahead of Keir Starmer meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Carney, Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said:

“The Prime Minister should take a maple leaf out of Canada’s playbook in response to bully boy Trump.

“While the UK has been bending over backwards to appease Trump on trade, Canada under Mark Carney has been deepening its ties with reliable partners.

“Keir Starmer should use this meeting to commit to closer trade ties with our Commonwealth allies and build a coalition of the willing to stand up to Trump’s bullying and end his trade war.”
