Selection Rules

Once a member has successfully undertaken the approval process and been added to the party's approved list of candidates, they can then apply for selection in any seat advertising for a parliamentary candidate. These adverts appear on the party website here.

To ensure a fair selection process, the rules below are used by all state parties to govern the process of selecting candidates. 

Federal Westminster Parliamentary Selection Rules May 2026

The Westminster Selection Rules above were ratified by the Joint Candidate Sub-Committee (JCSC) in June 2025, and again in March 2026.
