Lib Dems urge Government to deliver £14bn cost-of-living package in the Budget as inflation hits 3.5%
EMBARGO: Immediate release
Responding to new Office for National Statistics figures revealing UK inflation rose in the year to September on the back of surging fuel costs, Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Daisy Cooper responded:
"Trump’s war - which was cheered on by the Conservatives and Reform - continues to drive up everyday costs, leaving households having to tighten their belts once again.
“At the Budget next week the Labour government must make good on their promise to give people breathing space. Our £14 billion emergency package - fully funded by taxes on the unearned profits of big banks and energy operator monopolies - would cut energy, transport, and hospitality costs, and put money back in people's pockets, to help them with the cost of living and those little extras at the end of the month.”
