GMC report: Patients and doctors bore the brunt of Conservative neglect
EMBARGO: Immediate Release
Responding to the General Medical Council report that said doctors are at “breaking point”, Liberal Democrat Health and Social Care spokesperson, Daisy Cooper MP said:
“The former Conservative government drove our NHS into the ground, leaving patients and NHS staff to pay the price.
"Patients and doctors have been pushed into intolerable situations thanks to Conservative neglect, with staff burnt out, hospitals crumbling and patients facing endless waits whilst in desperate need of care.
“The government must put fixing the NHS and care at the very heart of its agenda. That means rolling out a 10 year retention plan and boosting GP numbers by 8,000 by the end of this Parliament in order that patients can have a legal right to see their GP within seven days or 24-hours when urgent.”
