Claire Young
MP for Thornbury and Yate
Claire has been the MP for Thornbury & Yate since 2024. Before being elected to Parliament, she served as the leader of South Gloucestershire Council and spent over over 17 years as a local Councillor.
During her time in Parliament, she has been a local champion for our area - fighting to support rural NHS services, protect our environment and biodiversity, address the broken school funding formula, and to support those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
A Cambridge mathematics graduate, Claire worked in the software industry before entering politics and has worked for both IBM and local high-tech start-ups. In her spare time she is a keen walker and amateur photographer.
