Daisy Cooper

Daisy Cooper is the Liberal Democrat MP for St Albans. She's also the Liberal Democrats’ Deputy Leader and Treasury spokesperson.

Daisy lives in the heart of St Albans and is a regular Thameslink commuter.

Since being elected in 2019, Daisy has shown the difference a hardworking Liberal Democrat MP can make, including by responding to more than 35,000 queries from constituents.

She has put local St Albans issues on the national stage: from local health services and high streets, to cladding, the cost of living, and her campaign to fix the Conservative’s top-down broken planning system, which doesn't deliver the homes we need but does destroy the green belt.

During her time as an MP, she won “Backbench MP of the Year 2021” in recognition of her work on fire safety and cladding; an award for her campaigning on access to dentistry; and “Pub Parliamentarian of the Year 2024”.

Daisy runs the St Albans Commuter Action Group and is a supporter of the Save St Albans Pubs campaign.

Before Daisy was elected, she worked in Commonwealth affairs for ten years, including campaigning for LGBT+ rights abroad. She also worked for Hacked Off, the campaign for a free and accountable press.
