Caroline Voaden

Caroline Voaden was elected MP for South Devon in July 2024, marking the end of 100 years of Conservative rule in the constituency.

Caroline is the former CEO of Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse services, and served as a member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2020, during which she was the last leader of the Liberal Democrat party in Europe.

Prior to this, Caroline worked as a journalist for Reuters, before becoming a freelance editor and a business-owner in Totnes.

At 34, Caroline was widowed after her first husband, Nick, died of oesophageal cancer when their children were 17 months and 3 years old.

After this, she joined and was later elected chair of a national charity that supports young, widowed men and women – WAY, Widowed and Young – and wrote a book about her experience and the impact of bereavement: If there’s anything I can do
