Sarah Green

MP for Chesham and Amersham

Sarah Green

Sarah was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Chesham and Amersham constituency at the Parliamentary by-election in June 2021. Before her spectacular victory, this seat had only ever been represented by Conservative Party Members of Parliament.

Sarah has been a champion for the local environment, speaking out on the foul and dangerous sewage discharges into our local rivers. In fact her first meeting and first visit after being elected was on this topic. She presented a Bill to the House of Commons that would have provided chalk streams like the Misbourne and Chess legal protections - but sadly this election was called before it could be passed.

As our local Member of Parliament Sarah has held HS2 to account, raising serious concerns and queries over their conduct, and their works around the project. Her work on this issue resulted in the Conservative HS2 Minister calling her “a tireless advocate on her constituents’ behalf”.

Sarah has also established a strong record of action helping local people, small businesses and the self employed. After hearing first-hand examples of problems facing constituents, Sarah has spoken in the House of Commons about NHS waiting times; the “medical mesh” scandal and the victims still waiting for redress; the loan charge scandal and has worked with small businesses to navigate a way through the inflation crisis.

In 2023, working with MPs from across the political spectrum, Sarah co-founded a new All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Crohn’s and Colitis - two medical conditions that do not get the understanding and recognition that they deserve.

Sarah lives in Chesham with her partner, Daniel and Labrador, Angus.
