Hina Bokhari AM

Hina Bokhari was first elected to the London Assembly for the Liberal Democrats in 2021. Since May 2024, she has led the Liberal Democrat Group on the Assembly becoming the first ethnic minority woman to lead a Group on the Assembly. She had previously been one of the first Muslim women elected to the Assembly.

Hina currently serves as the Party spokesperson for transport, the economy and fire safety. She was elected by the London Assembly to Chair the Fire Committee throughout 2024.

Hina’s key interests include ensuring the widest range of communities and more young people are involved in decision-making across London and campaigning to address the building safety and cladding crisis across London.

Hina has also been a vocal advocate for reforming the London Fire Brigade following the damning Nazir Afzal review into toxic culture in the service.

Before entering politics, Hina taught for 20 years in some of London’s most deprived areas and founded two charities to help young people. Outside of politics, Hina likes to bake, play board games with her kids and spend time with friends and family.
