Edward Lucas

Candidate for Cities of London and Westminster

General Election - 4 July 2024

Edward Lucas is not a professional politician.

He is an award-winning journalist, best-selling author and internationally recognised security expert.

He studied at LSE, and worked at the BBC and the Economist. He is a columnist for the Times.

Edward has spent his life fighting for truth and justice. As a foreign correspondent he covered wars and revolutions. He was beaten up, arrested, interrogated and deported by communist secret police. He stands up to dictators abroad and bullies at home.

Edward became the full-time candidate for the Cities of London and Westminster in 2021 and has been campaigning hard on local, national and international issues ever since.

He's exposed the government’s secret blacklists, which punished independent experts for their political views. He’s pushed the police to deal with rogue cyclists. He’s defended the Covent Garden street performers against the council’s crackdown. He’s taken up many other local cases of abuse and injustice.

Edward is 62. He is married with three children and lives in central London. In his spare time he swims in the Serpentine — all year round.
