Cllr Jonathan Moore
Jonathan has lived in the area for over 20 years, with the last 13 years at Salford Quays. Jonathan is very community minded, and within a year of arriving had got stuck in by becoming a volunteer director of Merchants Quay Residents Association, a role he’s now held for over a decade.
In 2019 Jonathan established Salford Quays Community Forum (SQCF) from a pre-existing smaller group and has been Chair ever since. SQCF is the only pan-quays group, set up to represent the interests and views of residents and local businesses across a range of topics and issues, which have included planning matters, environmental clean-ups, antisocial behaviour, community building, and much more. There is very little that has happened within the ward since 2019 that Jonathan hasn’t been involved in!
Away from the Quays Jonathan engages in a range of activities that demonstrate his passion for delivering social justice. He is Chair of the Board of a local counselling and family services centre, which provides much needed mental health support across Greater Manchester via a team of 51 clinical staff. He is a non-executive director and committee chair of a housing association, bringing his business experience to support those with the most acute housing needs. He is a trustee and Vice Chair for a national charity that campaigns on behalf of the financially excluded and marginalised communities, and in summer 2025, will become its Chair. He is also non-executive director of a lender which seeks to provide ethical lending to those who may otherwise be reliant on predatory lenders.
