Blaise Baquiche

Blaise is a writer and climate policy specialist, who has helped champion environmental experts and campaigners in print and broadcast media.

A former government adviser, his focus has been on farmers on the front line of climate change, and how they’ve dealt with unprecedented rainfall devastating their crops while at the same time having their government support cut. His work has given a voice to farmers, fed up with extortion from big supermarkets and lost in the unnecessary bureaucracy caused by Brexit.

He previously worked in the European Parliament during the Brexit years, before joining the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. His writing includes investigative reports on toxic dumping practices in the Baltic Sea, political upheaval across Europe, as well as culture and identity in 21st century Britain.

A passionate European, he’s been vocal in our cause for closer ties with Europe and has been appalled by Labour’s foot-dragging. He’s called out Labour and the Conservatives’ plans to ‘out-Farage’ each other on immigration.

So many people have lost faith in politics. Blaise wants to restore trust by fighting for a fair deal for our area, proving the value of a hardworking local councillor. He strongly believes in the power of local authorities to hold the Government and the Mayor to account, whether it be their appalling record on air quality, crime or building safety in the borough. As your Councillor, Blaise will fight to ensure more money is fed into local government, so that we can sort out the lack of funding for community services in Lambeth.
