Election of Executive Committee Members 2026.

Nominees

Nominations for positions on the 2026 Lambeth Liberal Democrats Executive Committee have now closed. Peter Truesdale is serving as the Returning Officer (RO) for these elections.

Serving on the Executive Committee is a fantastic way to help govern and shape the direction of our local Party. You can find nominees for our Executive Committee roles (including their candidate statements) below. For each position you will also have the opportunity to Re-open Nominations (RON).

You can also find role descriptions for the Officer positions, as well as our Lambeth Liberal Democrats Constitution below.

Voting is now open and wil close at 11:59 pm on Sunday 14th December. Shortly after this, the result will be announced.

Our Constitution (see below) states that all members of the Lambeth Liberal Democrats will receive their ballots to elect their Executive Committee members within 7 days of the AGM. You will receive your ballot by email or - in the event that we have no email for you on file - you will be issued with a unique voting code (UVC) by post (you will be required to enter this UVC into an online voting site).

In the event that you have not received your e-ballot or UVC through the post by the end of day on 2 December, please contact the RO on: peter@truesdale.com

NOMINATIONS

Chair

Nicholas Sanders

I have served as Chair this year and have learned much.  I would like to use what I have learned to help with the
big win in May.

Secretary

Stuart Beadnell
I have been a local member for nearly 40 years, living in West Dulwich. Having been a partner in a London law firm for over 30 years, I am due to retire.   I have stood for election to Lambeth council on two occasions, and should now like to contribute to the local party more actively.

Treasurer

Jackie Harper-Wray

I have been serving on the Executive as Treasurer for the past two years. Given the growth plans for the year ahead for the local party, I should like to continue as Treasurer so that there is no break in financial management. Though I am still relatively new to the Liberal Democrats, I have a background in accountancy and financial management of small organisations.

Vice Chair (Campaigns)

Ben Austin

I am standing for vice chair in 2026 because I want to help support our candidates to win in next May’s Lambeth elections. The next six months of campaigning is shaping up to be an once in a generation election opportunity to establish ourselves on Lambeth Council and I want to make sure the Exec is doing all it can to help.
I have been on the executive this year as an ordinary member, where I have focused on supporting our candidate selection and campaign organising processes. I am also a member of London Regional executive and their campaign subcommittee.

Elections Officer

Donal Kane

After supervising the process as Elections Officer for 2025 I would love the opportunity to see that through to its conclusion in the May 2026 local elections and beyond, bringing a new set of councillors to Lambeth for the Liberal Democrats.

Membership Development Officer

TBC

Diversity Officer

Eloka Ikegbunam

As Diversity Officer, my hope for the next term is to ensure we improve our strategy of engaging with members of underrepresented groups both in our local party and within the borough to ensure our local party membership reflects those we hope to serve. Creating a mentorship programme is one of the main goals that I hope to achieve. As we look beyond to the 2028 GLA elections and the next Lambeth election in 2030, I hope to create a pool of future leaders so that our local party has a strong team for the future.

Ordinary members (10 positions to elect)

Nicholas Davidson
Nick has lived in Streatham for over 25 years.  In 2024 he was our candidate in two council by-elections in Streatham Common and Vale as well as taking an active part in our winning general election campaigns in Carshalton and Sutton and Cheam.  He has served on the Executive since 2023.

Sarah Lewis
In this critical election year, I will help to support the election of Lib Dem candidates across the borough; and to make sure that our new council group has what they need to succeed. I will bring my campaign and governance experience as a former candidate and former local party chair. We have a huge opportunity: let's seize it!

Fareed Al'Derechi
I want to bring campaign experience, particularly in the north of the borough; and build on our message and
campaigning outreach efforts, particularly when it comes to minority groups, apathetic, Green and Reform voters
in the borough.

Alex Haylett

I’m a former officer and current member of the Lambeth Lib Dem Exec. I’ve lived in Herne Hill & Loughborough Junction for over 20 years, now raising my family here. I am also chair of trustees for Station Hall Herne Hill and care deeply about our local community and the party’s year-round work.

Robert Doyle
I have been a Lambeth member since 1988, standing in target wards in Streatham the 1990, 1994 and 1998 elections. 25 years in Whitehall subsequently kept me out of active politics. As well as experience of door- knocking and leaflet campaigns, I bring knowledge of the power and limitations of digital communications.  Given the demise of most local and regional print media, we need to “raise our game”; to get our Lambeth messages across on social media and hyperlocal groups.

Simon Bucknell
Born optimist! 17+ yrs full-time experience as a public speaking coach, helping people from all walks of life to have their voices heard. Keen to use that experience to benefit our party members and the good people of Lambeth. Streatham resident for 11+ yrs and in Lambeth for more than 20. Big believer that Lambeth Council should exist to serve residents, not the other way round.

Colin Penning
I want to add my experience campaigning for the party, training members and as a campaigner in the charity sector to our Lambeth team. I lived in Streatham where I helped our campaigns. I led successful campaigns in Hounslow, Yorkshire and Norfolk. I was on the national committee of the Green Lib Dems. I worked in the charity sector leading public health and mental health campaigns.

Stuart Beadnell
I have been a local member for nearly 40 years, living in West Dulwich. Having been a partner in a London law firm for over 30 years, I am due to retire.   I have stood for election to Lambeth council on two occasions, and should now like to contribute to the local party more actively.
