Meet Joe Higgs
I moved to the new ‘Fellowship Square’ site from Blackhorse Road in 2024. Since then, I have worked closely with my neighbours and others in the surrounding community to combat concerns around antisocial behaviour and crime.
By bringing residents together and pressing the police, developers, and other stakeholders, I helped drive a series of changes that have noticeably improved day-to-day life in the area. These included regular patrols from the police and college to combat antisocial behaviour (ASB), the removal of a bench that was a catalyst for ASB, improved communication and support from the council and developer, and several practical improvements to the site.
Outside of politics I am a software engineer, having previously worked as a primary school teacher.
I joined the Liberal Democrats in 2019 because I believe in taking practical action to get results for local residents.
For me, local politics is about solving problems. Whether the issue is fixing potholes, hounding Thames Water to resolve leak issues, or putting pressure on developers and property managers to deliver higher standards, the Liberal Democrats work to drive forward change.
I believe our council can and should be doing more, and I am committed to working hard for residents to make that happen.
