Where can you go to speak to a police officer?

Despite the Labour Mayor of London promising in his manifesto to keep a Police Station Front Desk open in every borough, the Met have announced sweeping cuts to their front desks, including the closure of the last remaining one in Waltham Forest.

All nearby police stations with front desks have either closed or had their hours reduced, meaning that if you need to speak to the police out-of-hours you will now need to travel to as far as Wood Green or Romford.

To add insult to injury, despite the Labour Mayor pledging at the last election to add 1,300 officers to London’s streets, the Met have just announced they are axing 1,700 officers, PCSOs and back office staff.

Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Naomi McCarthy said, “Labour’s decision to reduce police presence when residents and businesses are increasingly concerned about crime is totally unacceptable. Once again local people are left with the consequences of Labour’s broken promises.”
