Liberal Democrat MPs used an Opposition Day in Parliament to force a vote on the government’s delay to the New Hospitals Programme, including the full rebuild of Whipps Cross.

Labour have pushed back Whipps Cross’s completion to 2036 at the earliest. The Lib Dems tabled a motion demanding the delay be reversed and a “crumbling hospitals taskforce” set up to speed up construction. Labour, including local MP Calvin Bailey, voted it down.

Local campaigner Arran Angus said, “People in Grove Green deserve a safe, modern hospital, not another decade of delays.”
