Lib Dem Plan to Cut the Cost of living
The Liberal Democrats are calling for an emergency cut to VAT for local pubs, restaurants, cafés, hotels and local attractions.
The tax cut would help boost struggling high streets and slash prices for hard-pressed families.
With bills through the roof and prices soaring, small joys like fish and chips on a Friday night or a trip to the pub are becoming an unaffordable luxury for too many.
And the Lib Dems have a plan to help.
Liberal Democrat campaigner Naomi McCarthy said, “People are working hard all month just to be able to pay their bills - and have nothing left to spend on the high street.”
“Small businesses and pubs are being hammered by Labour’s jobs tax, and local people can’t afford to go out - so it’s no wonder pubs, restaurants, and cafés are boarding up their shopfronts and closing down.”
“We need action - not words - to tackle this crisis.”
The Lib Dem plan would ease the pressure on local businesses and help bring prices down - giving hard-working families a fair deal and helping our high street thrive.
It’s time to back families, back local businesses - and give Britain a much-needed morale boost.
