Betrayal!

Whipps Cross Hospital

The Labour government has broken its promise to fund the much-needed rebuild of Whipps Cross Hospital, with construction now delayed until 2032 at the earliest.

Despite local MPs promising before the General Election to push ahead with the redevelopment of Whipps Cross, Labour have chosen to go back on their word.

Hardworking doctors and nurses battled through the pandemic while also having to contend with floods and a collapsed ceiling. It is unacceptable that NHS staff and patients will have to endure deteriorating conditions for an extra seven years.

Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Arran Angus said, “This is a scandalous betrayal of local people by an out-of-touch Labour party. This decision has not been made due to a lack of money, but a lack of political will to do the right thing.”
