Scot Lib Dems pledge opportunity for everyone

Liberal Democrat Scottish Affairs spokesperson Christine Jardine has today pledged that her party will stand up for opportunity for everyone as she campaigned in Edinburgh today, including a visit to Edinburgh Pride.

Ms Jardine said:

“Everyone deserves the chance to get on in life, see their hard work properly rewarded and realise their hopes for the future.

“The Liberal Democrats are proud of our work in advancing human rights, civil liberties and equality and our part in laying the foundations of the welfare state and the NHS.

“Too often under SNP and Conservative governments, people have not had the chance to get ahead in life.

“They have been held back by a lack of economic opportunity, a lack of educational opportunity or discrimination that prevents them from living their life the way they want to live it.

“People deserve a fair deal. That’s why we are committed to repairing the broken safety net that currently consigns so many to poverty, double statutory maternity and shared parental pay and deliver more in class support for pupils.

“Every Scottish Liberal Democrat MP elected will be a vote to guarantee opportunity for everyone.”
