Road policing cuts are a licence for bad behaviour
Commenting on suggestions that only two police road traffic patrol vehicles would cover the whole of Scotland from 3am to 7am and damning comments from the Scottish Police Federation warning "We are in danger of becoming a laughing stock and the Government needs to recognise that the cuts have gone too far and need to be reversed", Scottish Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP said:
"This is a licence for people to behave badly on the roads late at night, knowing that there is little the police can do to stop them.
"It also raises real questions about how simultaneous accidents in different corners of the country would be handled.
"The police are being forced to make terrible choices because the Scottish Government have expected them to do so much with so little for so long."
