Cole-Hamilton responds to new drugs report
Responding to an embargoed report from HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland which calls on Police Scotland to publish a clear policy on drug harm reduction, noting that while some progress had been made in tackling drug harms, “significant gaps remain”, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
“Scotland’s drug deaths crisis is a national tragedy. Our health service and our justice system both have a vital role to play in tackling drug-related harms.
“My party have long called for transformational action, and we were pleased to secure a new facility for mothers and babies struggling with drug dependence earlier this year. It's now down to ministers to deliver.
“From rolling out a nationwide network of safer consumption rooms to proper investment in local services, Scottish Liberal Democrats have a realistic plan to stop people dying.”
