Cole-Hamilton responds to Chris Stark comments and Harvie resignation threat

Responding to Chris Stark’s comments at the Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee this morning and Patrick Harvie’s threat to resign as Scottish Greens leader if his party members vote to leave their coalition with the SNP, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:

“Patrick Harvie is prepared to sacrifice his leadership position for the sake of nationalism over environmentalism.

“It’s easy to see why many Scottish Greens members are horrified that their party has delivered cuts to housing, slashed tree-planting and hiked rail fares three times.

“Chris Stark is rightly scathing about the Scottish Government and its climate credentials.

"Ambitious targets were undermined by SNP/Green ministers pumping out press releases but failing to do the hard graft of insulating homes, making transport cleaner or creating green jobs.

“Abandoning Scotland’s climate change targets is a generational betrayal.”
