Speaking as a campaign visit to the Highlands gets underway this weekend, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP stated that the SNP have served up a “platter of failures” to people in the region, highlighting that they deserve a “fresh start” with the Liberal Democrats.

Mr Cole-Hamilton is campaigning in Inverness with the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for the area, Angus MacDonald. Mr MacDonald is standing in the former constituency of Charles Kennedy and is working hard to win it back from the SNP.

Mr Cole-Hamilton said:

“From cutting council budgets to putting rural issues on the backburner, the SNP have served up nothing but a platter of failures for people in the Highlands.

“In the face of dangerous roads and long journeys for treatment, SNP representatives have been in the business of making excuses rather than getting things done.

“Liberal Democrats care passionately about this area and its people. That’s why our candidate, Angus MacDonald, is already campaigning tirelessly on the issues that matter, from replacing the Belford Hospital to rejuvenating local high streets and improving the A82.

“The Highlands deserve so much better than the SNP’s neglect and centralisation. Everybody knows this seat is going to be a straight fight between my party and the nationalists. At the forthcoming election, local people deserve someone who will put their interests first, and they will find that fresh start in local Liberal Democrat Angus MacDonald.”
