Cole-Hamilton campaigns in tightest race in Scotland

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton today said it's time to "tear down the acid yellow wall of the SNP" as he campaigned in Mid Dunbartonshire, a seat that is set to be a straight fight between the Scottish Liberal Democrats and the nationalists.

There were just 149 votes between the parties last time in the former seat of East Dunbartonshire, a majority of just 0.28%, making it the closest-fought seat in Scotland.

Speaking in Bishopbriggs as he campaigned alongside candidate Susan Murray, Alex Cole-Hamilton said:

"There were just 149 votes in it last time the general election was fought here. By backing the Scottish Liberal Democrats you can tear down the acid yellow wall of the SNP.

"Susan and her team have knocked every door and had thousands of meaningful conversations. People have had enough, feel taken for granted and are telling us it's time for change. The SNP have made a mess of our country for too long.

"Susan Murray will be a first-class MP who will fight the cost of living emergency, improve local healthcare and lift up our schools. Public service runs through her veins. She gets business, knows what it means to be a carer and raised half-a-million pounds to build a skate park before she became a councillor.

"By backing the Scottish Liberal Democrats you will get a local champion who'll fight for a fair deal for your community and every part of our country. We've beaten the SNP before and we can do it again."
