Care sector feels “used” by National Care Service deal
Responding to comments made to the Scottish Parliament’s Health, Social Care and Sports Committee this morning, where care sector leaders and those with lived experiences indicated that they had not been consulted in the government’s decision to share legal responsibility for the social care overhaul between three public bodies, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader and health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
“It’s difficult to imagine more damming evidence of a policy doomed to fail.
“Even as the crisis in social care intensifies by the day, the SNP and Greens continue to ignore and snub all those who actually have the knowledge to make things better.
“This ministerial takeover needs scrapped, not salvaged. Scottish Liberal Democrats stood up against this vast and unnecessary billion-pound bureaucracy from day one because we know that this money should be going to frontline services and staff instead.”
