1 in 4 waiting more than six weeks just to be assessed for social care
Responding to new Scottish Government figures which reveal that 1 in 4 people over 65 waiting for a social care assessment waited longer than six weeks just to be assessed for a social care package, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader and health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
“Some of the most vulnerable Scots are paying the price of the SNP and Green’s total failure to get to grips with social care.
“The government’s proposed ministerial takeover of social care is an ill-fated power grab- it must be scrapped, not salvaged.
“Rather than wasting billion of pounds on a centralising bureaucracy, Scottish Liberal Democrats want to see that money spent on driving up the quality of care and rewarding staff with better pay, conditions and career progression.”
