Leigh Farrell Butler is standing as the Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for East Kilbride because they believe local communities deserve representatives who will stand up for fairness, opportunity, and practical solutions to the challenges people face every day.
Having built a career in education, Leigh has seen first-hand how access to learning can transform lives. As a college lecturer teaching Make-up Artistry and Special Effects for TV and Film, Leigh works closely with students from a wide range of backgrounds and understands the importance of strong public services, well-funded education, and opportunities for young people to build their futures locally.
Leigh decided to stand for election to give East Kilbride a strong local voice that listens to residents and acts on their concerns. From protecting and improving local services to supporting jobs, skills, and economic growth, Leigh believes politics should focus on delivering real improvements in people’s daily lives.
A committed Liberal Democrat, Leigh joined the party in 2019 after many years of support and has been actively involved in campaigning ever since, including standing in the Shotts council by-election. Leigh is standing in East Kilbride to bring energy, compassion, and a commitment to community-focused politics to the Scottish Parliament.
