Lib Dems secure access for more islands to Ferry Disruption Fund
10 Dec 2025
The £4.4 million fund compensates island businesses hit by ferry disruption. When it was first announced, the Scottish Government limited support to only a small number of islands, leaving many businesses unfairly excluded despite facing the same disruption and losses. It was obvious this was wrong.
Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader Alex Cole-Hamilton challenged the First Minister directly at Holyrood, while the Liberal Democrats also organised a petition calling for the fund to be extended.
Alan Reid, “I welcome the extension of compensation to businesses on more islands which have suffered greatly from the SNP's Ferry Fiasco.”
