• Started classroom upgrades at Falkland School
• Resurfaced footpath onto the Speen Moors
• Refurbished Northcroft Leisure Centre

Thatcham

• Carried improvements to footpaths and crossings on Lower Way
• Completed upgrades to Henwick Worthy Sports Ground and Kennet School's tennis and netball courts
• Reopened Beverley Close alletway onto Memorial Fields
• Refurbished an old building to create a new nursery at Thatch Park
• Held different themed markets in Thatcham Broadway

Bucklebury

• Supported launch of "Sustainable Bucklebury".
• Supported Parish Council on Community Orchard and heritage pump restoration
• Campaigned to retain the school bus collection for Theale Green School at the Bladebone.
• Worked with Woolhampton Parish Councillors to retain the village shop.
• Support Midgham Village Hall Committee for planning on replacement roof.
• Supported local school parent association to raise funds to refurbish children's trim trail.

Burghfield and Mortimer

• Supported Burghfield Skate Park 2.0 with £100k funding.
• New bus shelters installed in Burghfield and Mortimer.
• Supported Mortimer and Wokefield's call for lower speed limits.
• Opposed 350 new homes on the edge of Mortimer.

Pangbourne

• Stopped Reading Council's land grab in Pangbourne and Theale.

Theale

• Stopped Reading Council's land grab in Pangbourne and Theale.
• Worked with residents to lower speed limited on residential roads.
• Secured grant towards new footpath across North Street playing field.

In October and November 2025, recycling rates for food waste, plastics, paper and card were up on 2024 whilst black bin waste was down 18%.

Councillor Justin Pemberton, Executive Portfolio Holder: Community Engagement, Economic Development and Regeneration and Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation said "This is great news for West Berkshire. People have embraced the changes to our recycling and have shown an increase in the amount we are recycling."

Food waste increased by 25% with plastic bottles, pots, tubs, trays and food and drink cans increasing by 17% and paper and card increasing by 6% this shows that we are on track to achieve the anticipated £150k in-year savings through reduced waste and increased recycling, and mitigate the Labour Government's proposed new tax on waste disposal, saving tax payers approximately £1.4 million a year.

In a recent review into how well councils are fixing their roads with government funding, West Berkshire Council was rated "Green" across all 3 categories, rating them as one of the best across the country.

In 2025 alone, we repaired 2,498 potholes, cleaned over 20,000 gullies, fixed 648 streetlights and resurfaced more than 63 kilometres of road. Alongside this, we've carried out essential works such as signage cleaning and white line repainting, tripling the budget for these key
highways activities.

Councillor Stuart Gourley, Executive Portfolio Holder: Environment and Highways  said "This is positive news for West Berkshire and shows that the investment we've made in our roads is delivering results."

"Improving the condition of our roads is one of our top priorities and being one of three authorities across the country rated overall 'Green' across the three categories reflects our commitment to maintaining roads properly for the long term, rather than short-term fixes."

Recently we held a Chinese New Year themed market which was packed with many residents and was well received throughout the day. This market was a huge success with the foot traffic not slowing down during the day.

A Best of British themed market was also held in May to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day which was also
another roaring success.

Councillor Tom McCann said "These markets were an outstanding success; the Town was filled with people enjoying themselves and were a great way of attracting people into our town centre."

Over the coming months more themed markets will be held in Thatcham Broadway and in the High Street, and we hope that these will be met with the same reaction as the first two.
