Alistair David Bounds

Alistair lives in Newbury with his wife and is running for Newbury Town Council for the first time. Alistair is passionate about the environment and is keen to continue NTC's work protecting and supporting Newbury's green community spaces.

Andy Moore

Andu has lived in Newbury for nearly 50 years with his, now adult, children having attended St Nic’s and St Bart’s schools.  He has been actively involved in St Nic’s church, in local badminton as player, administrator and coach, and he sings with the Spring Festival Chorus.  He and his wife, Sheila, are trustees of a small locally-based charity which supports NGOs mainly in southern India.

An engineer by profession, before retirement he worked in Defence, originally locally, and then commuting to both London and Bristol with a particular focus on health, safety and environmental protection regulation.

On West Berkshire Council he have been on Governance & Ethics and Health Scrutiny committees and the Cycle Forum.  At Newbury Town Council, his main interest has been Planning & Highways which I will hope to continue.

He will be aiming to carry on contributing to a competent, listening and caring Town Council.
 

Elizabeth Rosemary O'Keeffe

Elizabeth has been a Newbury Town Councillor since 2011.She currently serves on the Policy and Resources and civic Pride Arts and Culture committees. She has also served n a number of other committees and working groups.

She served as Mayor for two consecutive years through the Covid pandemic. Which was both challenging and rewarding. She concentrated on supporting the elderly isolated at home and supporting businesses in the town.

She has worked in the field of education at many levels. Arriving in Newbury in 1981 to run Waterside Youth/Community Centre. She is delighted to see it now reborn providing for the community.

She believes in being fully involved in her community seeing the role of a councillor as an opportunity to inform, advise, support and advocate for her electorate. She is retired and is currently a school g governor, Trustee with Time to Talk Youth Counselling Services where demand grows by the week.  A Citizens Advice board member having volunteered as a general adviser for over ten years. She is also a volunteer steward at The Corn Exchange and passionate about preserving this wonderful arts facility. Living close to the canal and river in the town she has for many years been  an area Flood Warden. She is a keen gardner and walker and committed to preserving and protecting the environment.

Sarah Slack

Sarah had a full career in Nursing and Midwifery, as well as four children, now all grown up. She was elected as a Newbury Town Councillor in 2019. She is a good team member and has proved herself to be conscientious, caring and hardworking. Since 2021 she served as Deputy Leader and Chair of Community Services as well as being a member of most working groups. She is proud of the Lib Dem led Council’s achievements in the past 4 years and wants to continue to focus on town matters.

She is also a trustee of Citizens Advice West Berks.

Martha Vickers

Martha Vickers has lived in Newbury since 1987 and worked as a Health Visitor in Newbury and West Berkshire until her retirement. 

Martha has served as a District and Newbury Town councillor. She was Mayor in 1997 when she focused on trying to give a voice to young people, forming the first Newbury Young persons Council and initiating the long-running Local Democracy work with schools. 

Martha has a particular interest in caring for the vulnerable and protecting our environment. She is passionate about supporting women who have suffered Domestic Abuse, is a member of Newbury Town Council’s Climate Change Working Group and is West Berkshire Council’s Green Champion
